![]() ![]() This is a major ESC upgrade over the stock XL-5 ESC that comes in the Slash. The most popular Hobbywing upgrade ESC for the Traxxas Slash is the EZ Run MAX10. Let’s take a look at each component in more detail. If you want to run a 3S LiPo, you will want to choose the lower KV motors. ![]() If you want to run a higher KV motor, you may only be able to run a 2S LiPo. I recommend teaming up the Hobbywing EZ Run MAX10 ESC with the Hobbywing EZ Run 3665 Brushless Motor. I personally run my Slash on 3S LiPos and think that a 3S brushless motor will provide more power compared to a 3S. Most drivers looking to upgrade their Slash should upgrade to a 2S-3S motor and ESC system. What Is The Best Hobbywing Motor and ESC Upgrade For The Traxxas Slash 4X4? I always recommend buying a 4X4 if you can afford it. You can’t upgrade the two-wheel drive version to become a 4X4. ![]() So, before buying a Slash, you need to decide if you want a two-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive. The Slash 4X4 is built on a four-wheel drive train, so you can easily upgrade to a better motor and ESC if you have outgrown the stock Titan brushless motor. The Titan 12T motor is a brushed motor and is not as fast or powerful as the brushless Velineon motor that comes in the Traxxas VXL 4X4 model. The Traxxas Slash 4X4 comes with the Titan 12T motor and the Traxxas XL-5 electronic speed controller. What Motor And ESC Are in the Traxxas Slash 4X4? But which motor and ESC combo is best for the Traxxas Slash 4X4? In this post, we will look at several options if you want to upgrade the Traxxas Slash motor and ESC. I think upgrading to a Hobbywing motor and ESC for the Traxxas Slash will improve the truck’s performance, acceleration, and max speed. It is great for bashing and can compete on the race track with a few upgraded parts. And my current body mount from Pro-Line the screw nuts tend to unscrew and get lost under heavy bashing and crashes if i went to the new Traxxas clipless mounts it would fix the issue. The Traxxas Slash 4X4 is one of the most popular RC trucks on the planet. The stock driveshafts aren't known to be super durable and as much as i like the aluminum uprights they tend to bind up if too much thread lock is used if i switched to the plastic extreme hd ones it would eliminate that issue. The truck is mostly complete and runs just fine currently but i think these last few upgrades would complete the truck for me. other changes i would like to make to this truck someday would be the new clipless body from the new Brushless BL-2s Slash 4x4 and the Extreme HD driveline and suspension upgrade kit that also comes standard on the BL-2s slash 4x4. The only changes i want to make electronics wise is buy a Radiolink R8FG V2.1 receiver for it and switch over to my new main radio an RC8X from Radiolink someday and maybe a Castle Copperhead 10 with 1412 3,200KV Brushless combo. it also has an Amazon high speed metal gear servo and finally my trusty Futaba T4PM OG 2.4Ghz radio system. Which consisted of a Hobbywing Max 10 SCT G1 120A with HW 3660SL 3,200KV Brushless ESC and Motor that i originally bought for my previous truck back in early 2021. This truck has all the electronics i had in my previous truck which was an LCG converted VXL. Although i could have gotten the RTR but i already had all the parts from my other Slash 4x4's to get this one up and running and this truck is my current personal Slash 4x4. The truck is this review is my latest ultimate model at the time i purchased it as a rolling chassis off eBay from the same seller i got my XO-1 roller from. It the time this as an all platform only recycling the front and rear differentials from the Revo line of trucks. The Honest Review: The Slash 4x4 is one of the most recognizable and famous RC land vehicles of all time and has originally released in late 2009 or early 2010 right after the Slash 2wd.
